The West Indies have announced a 16-member squad for their upcoming five-match T20I series against Australia, scheduled to take place from July 20 to 28 in Jamaica and St. Kitts. The series will be pivotal in the West Indies’ ongoing preparations for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.

Among the notable inclusions are two first-time call-ups: 18-year-old batting prospect Jewel Andrew and left-arm seamer Jediah Blades. Andrew, who also offers backup wicketkeeping, made headlines with his fearless strokeplay during CPL 2024. Blades, who debuted in ODIs earlier this year, showcased his potential with impactful spells during the West Indies Breakout League, particularly with the new ball.

New Faces Join Familiar Core as West Indies Gear Up for Australia T20Is

Shai Hope will continue to lead the side, which retains a familiar core from the recent T20I series win against Ireland. Andre Russell, who recently announced his retirement from international cricket, will feature only in the first two matches of the series, both of which will be played at his home ground, Sabina Park.

Head Coach Daren Sammy underlined the team’s goals of strategic continuity and building momentum heading into the next World Cup cycle. “We want to regain our form at home and climb the rankings with this exciting group of players,” Sammy said. “Our goals and strategic plans are aligned to winning the T20 World Cup in 2026.”
