Rohit Sharma is one fifty away from 50 IPL fifties — but does the record mean anything when MI are already out?
Rohit Sharma is one fifty away from completing 50 fifties of the Indian Premier League (IPL), and this record could bring a huge value to the tough event when the Mumbai Indians are already out of IPL 2026.

They will hope to see their former captain complete the milestone in the dead rubber.

The veteran, despite not playing the shortest format for a long time, has found the rhythm quite well.
What 49 fifties over 19 seasons actually tells us about Rohit’s consistency
The best season for the former Indian capain in the history of the IPL came in 2013 when he clubbed 538 runs in 19 innings of the campaign at an average of 38.42 and a strike rate of 131.54, thanks to four half-centuries at the best score of unbeaten 79 runs.
Out of the 19 seasons of the league, he has crossed the 400-run mark in nine editions and led the Mumbai side to five titles, which has been a tremendous effort.
In the history of the event, the 39-year-old has collected the fifth-most runs in the powerplay. He has smashed 2142 runs in 178 innings at an average of just under 30 and a strike rate of nearly 127, thanks to 101 sixes and 239 boundaries at the best score of 37 runs inside the first six overs of the innings.

Legacy, not playoffs — Why this record matters more because MI are out
Mumbai is currently at the ninth position of the points table, having collected three victories in 11 encounters at a net run rate of -0.585. Apart from facing the Kings, they will play an away game against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and face the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their last fixture.

Out of the three games that they have won, their former captain has notched up half-centuries in two of those clashes.
And they will hope to end the tough campaign with the happiness of a few more victories, and their favorite Rohit getting the milestone of fifty fifties in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
