Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli both lost their wickets cheaply during the India vs Australia 1st ODI match at the Optus Stadium. Sharma departed for 8, while Kohli returned to the dugout with a duck—a comeback in blue for two legends far away from a memorable account.

The level of expectations around Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli before the match was touching the roof. Both rehearsed their batting in nets to mark their comeback special, but in reality, it was a disappointing start for India. India lost their 3 batters for only 25 runs on the scoreboard. Captain Shubman Gill is gone for only 10 runs. Three pacers of Australia—Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Nathan Ellis—claimed a wicket each.

Indian cricket fans across social media platforms reacted widely to Virat's and Rohit's dismissals. Netizens can now see a series of memes on these two batters. Few of the cricket fans are trying to stand by the icons. Why did Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli lose their wickets so early despite all the preparations?

Cricket fans reacted on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli's early dismissals

According to some theories, it was mostly because of the rust they sustained because of the long layoff. After taking retirements from T20I and Tests, they were out of action for a long time, and then the wicket. The surface of the Optus Stadium looked good for pacers. On their home soil, Aussie pacers did their job precisely. Rohit was looking good on the track, but the movement Josh Hazlewood generated was enough to trap the right-handed batter. Starc took the wicket of Kohli.

The weather condition too was not favorable for the batting side on a fresh track. Under a heavy sky, batting was difficult against the new ball and the quality bowling of team Australia. As of now, the match has stopped due to rain; Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel are the batters on the crease.
