RCB coach Andy Flower was fined 15 per cent of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct against the Mumbai Indians. The penalty followed his argument with the fourth umpire during the match.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru returned to winning ways with a thrilling two-wicket victory over the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2026. Chasing 167, RCB sealed the match on the final ball after Rasikh Salam completed a crucial double to take the team home. With this win, Bengaluru moved to the top of the IPL 2026 points table.
However, the victory also brought some bad news for the RCB camp. Head coach Andy Flower has been fined 15 per cent of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during the match against the Mumbai Indians.
According to the IPL organisers, Flower was involved in an argument with the fourth umpire during the game. The former Zimbabwe captain accepted the Level 1 offence under the Code of Conduct, and the match referee’s decision remains final.

What did Andy Flower do? The incident that triggered IPL's disciplinary action
The incident happened during the 17.2 overs of the match when RCB head coach Andy Flower had a heated conversation with the fourth umpire over a controversial boundary decision involving Krunal Pandya.
Krunal tried to hit AM Ghazanfar towards wide long-on, where Naman Dhir took the catch near the boundary rope. While balancing himself, Dhir pushed the ball towards Tilak Varma as he stepped over the line. Tilak looked unsure and appeared to signal a six, possibly thinking Dhir had touched the boundary cushions during the effort.
However, television replays later confirmed that Dhir did not touch the boundary cushions. Since Krunal was struggling with cramps, he did not try to take a run, and the delivery ended as a dot ball.
As per the IPL Code of Conduct, Article 2.3 relates to the use of offensive or inappropriate language that can be heard by spectators or through stump microphones. The rule also includes angry reactions shown in frustration during the game. Later, the former Zimbabwe cricketer accepted the offence and agreed to the punishment given by the match referee Amit Sharma.
What Andy Flower's fine means for RCB's IPL 2026 campaign
Andy Flower’s fine is unlikely to affect RCB directly on the field, but it has brought unwanted attention to the team during an important stage of IPL 2026. Bengaluru are currently fighting for a strong finish in the league stage, and the management will want to avoid any more disciplinary issues going forward.
The incident also highlights the pressure inside the RCB camp during close matches. Despite the controversy, the team showed strong character by defeating the Mumbai Indians in a thrilling last-over finish. RCB will now focus on maintaining their momentum and staying at the top of the points table as the race for the IPL 2026 playoffs becomes more intense.
