A ball-boy caught attention of the crowd and the players during the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2026 between the Saint Lucia Kings and the Guyana Amazon Warriors at the Providence Stadium. His one-handed stunning catch at the boundary rope went viral around the social media platforms.  

With the win at home, the Guyana went to the top of the points table with seven victories in eight clashes at a net run-rate of +1.029. They have confirmed their stay at the first position while Saint Lucia dropped down to the fourth rank of the table with four wins in 10 games.

It was the final delivery of the 16th over of the innings when Charith Asalanka. The off-spinner went short at Quentin Sampson, who picked the bones out of that delivery and dispatched it over the deep mid-wicket region for a huge over boundary.

The ball went flying over the rope where the ball boy stretched his hand and grabbed a superb one-handed catch, which grabbed the eyes of the players and the fans around the venue. It was a superb catch from the youngster in Guyana.

On the third ball of the same over, Asalanka made the same mistake of putting the delivery short on the surface to which Shimron Hetmyer rocked back and pulled it over deep square leg for a massive six.

On the slow surface at Providence Stadium, the Kings batted first and were bundled out for 119 runs in 18.5 overs. Their opener, Kamil Pooran, nailed 43 runs off 35 balls at a strike rate of around 123, thanks to six boundaries and a pair of sixes, while Obus Pienaar drilled 35 runs, shouldering on four fours and one over boundary.  

The 47-year-old Imran Tahir returned with figures of 5/17 in his four overs at an economy rate of 4.20 while Mehidy Hasan Miraz ended with 3/13 in four overs at an economy rate of 3.20.

Guyana, despite the slow beginning, completed the chase of 122 runs by four wickets with nine balls to spare. Sampson remained undefeated on 37 runs off 11 balls, thanks to five sixes and one boundary. Roston Chase ended with 3/34 in four overs.

Brief Scores: Guyana Amazon Warriors 122/6 (Quentin Sampson 37*, Roston Chase 3/34) beat Saint Lucia Kings 119 (Kamil Pooran 43, Imran Tahir 5/17) by 4-wickets.
