Bangladesh cricketers fined for breaching ICC Code of Conduct
Two Bangladesh cricketers have been fined for breaching ICC Code of Conduct during the second Women's ODI against Sri Lanka Women.

Two cricketers from Bangladesh Women have been fined for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct. Both the cricketers were involved in breaching the disciplinary rules during the second game of the three-match home Women's ODI series against Sri Lanka Women. The series is a part of the ICC Women’s Championship 2025-2029.
These two Bangladesh cricketers are the 26-year-old Nahida Akter and the 32-year-old Sarmin Sultana. Both cricketers have been found guilty of breaching Level 1 during the second Women's ODI against Sri Lanka last Wednesday (April 22). While both have been fined 10 percent of their respective match fees, both have also received one demerit point. It is their first disciplinary offence in the last 24 months.
Nahida Akter breached Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, related to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an International Match.” Meanwhile, Sarmin Sultana was found guilty of breaching Article 2.8, related to “showing dissent at an Umpire’s decision during an International Match.”
Why were Nahida Akter and Sarmin Sultana fined?
In the 16th over of the Bangladesh Women's innings in the second WODI against Sri Lanka Women, Sarmin was dismissed through an lbw. The Bangladesh batter pointed her bat and showed excessive disappointment before taking time to leave the pitch. The opener scored 25 runs before losing her wicket.
Meanwhile, in the 17th over of the Sri Lankan innings, Nahida dismissed the Sri Lankan opener and captain Chamari Athapaththu for 40 runs. The Bangladesh bowler gave a send-off to the opposition captain by pointing to the pavilion.
On-field umpires Eloise Sheridan and Rokeya Sultana, third umpire Dolly Rani Sarkar and fourth umpire Shathira Jakir Jesy levelled the charges against the Bangladesh players. Supriya Rani Das, the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees, proposed the sanctions against both the Bangladesh cricketers. Both players have admitted their respective offences and accepted the charges.
