The defending champions for the SA20 2026/27, Sunrisers Eastern Cape, added more firepower with the inclusion of Mitchell Marsh, who will play in the franchise T20 league of South Africa for the very first time. The fifth season of the competition begins on January 17 and will be preceded by a mini-auction which takes place on October 07. 

Overall, there are 20 playing spots up for grabs, including one wild card being available to Joburg Super Kings-across four of the six franchises, after Durban Super Giants and Paarl Royals completed their 19-player squads ahead of their time.

SA20 2026/27: Full Squad List for All Six Franchises

The JSK has decided not to retain their captain, Faf du Plessis, while the MI Cape Town has excluded Rassie van der Dussen, Kieron Pollard, and Trent Boult.

When will the SA20 2026/27 auction and tournament begin?

The fifth season of the competition will start on January 17 in Gqeberha and end with the final on February 21 in Cape Town. The opening clash of the event will be a rematch of the previous season’s final between defending champions, Sunrisers Eastern Cape (SEC) and the runners-up, Pretoria Capitals (PC).

The home of the Paarl Royals, the Boland Park, will host the first Qualifier on February 16, while the Eliminator and the second qualifier of the competition will be hosted by the Wanderers, home of JSK, and the final will be played at Newlands.

The Eastern Cape is the competition’s most successful team, winning three titles in 2023, 2024, and 2026, besides reaching the final in 2025, when the MICT became the champions.
