The all-rounder of the Australian side, Cameron Green, has miraculously got lucky and survived a possible dismissal on the third day of the ongoing opening Test of the two-match series against Bangladesh at the Marrara Cricket Ground in Darwin as the ball missed the leg stump and rolled on to the boundary rope for a four. 

In the first innings of the contest, Australia were bundled out for just 198 runs, with Steve Smith playing the lone-hand knock of 71 runs as the rest of the line-up failed to convert their starts into big scores and couldn’t tolerate the pace of Hasan Mahmud.

On the fifth delivery of the 31st over of the second innings of the Australian side, Taskin Ahmed went with a good-length delivery as Green had no idea of the movement of the ball. The ball nipped in outside the off stump as the right-handed batter pushed at it with minimal movement and got a thick inside edge.

The ball seemed to get a touch on the outer part of the leg stump and raced away to the fine leg fence. There was a definite sound as the technology confirmed that there was a spike when the ball was next to the leg stump.

The Bangladesh team was as stunned by the situation as Taskin went back to his bowling mark. To make matters worse, the ball raced away to the boundary rope for a four.

In reply to the home side’s first innings score of 198 runs in Darwin, Bangladesh were bundled out for 426 runs in their first innings as their opening batter, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, smashed a fine knock of 101 runs off 197 balls with the help of eight boundaries and one six at a strike rate of 51.27.

Bangladesh's captain, Najmul Hossain Shanto, creamed a dashing knock of 84 runs off 126 balls, thanks to seven boundaries and one six. Mehidy Hasan Miraz blasted a fine knock of 65 runs off 154 balls while Josh Hazlewood returned with fine figures of 6/89, completing his 300 wickets in the longest format.

Australia, meanwhile, have made their way to 161/4 with Green remaining unbeaten on 43 runs along with Alex Carey’s 19* as they still trail by 67 runs.
