Mohammad Rizwan has been going through a nightmarish time in his career as he has managed only 107 runs in seven innings at an average of 15.28 and a strike rate of 116.30 with the best score of 41 runs, while featuring for the Rawalpindiz, who are at the bottom of the points table.

The franchise is yet to win a single clash of seven encounters during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026, as they have only three games left to show some respect and leave something to cheer for the fans and themselves.

Rizwan asked about T20 retirement after poor PSL 2026

In the previous edition, the wicket-keeper opening batter smashed 367 runs in 10 innings at an average of 52.42 and a strike rate of 139.54 with the help of one fifty and one century at the best score of unbeaten 105 runs.

Rizwan claimed that even while playing for the Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash League 2025/26, he claimed that he doesn’t deserve a place in the Pakistan cricket team.

“When I was playing the Big Bash, and the team got selected, I went there and said that I don’t deserve to be in the Pakistan team based on this performance. But I am the same person who sat in front of you guys, and you said that I can’t hit a six, if you still remember.” The right-handed batter expressed in the press conference.

“Even now, I am honestly saying, and Haris is sitting behind, perhaps coming to the press conference, and he is the proof for this. While having dinner, I told him that with this performance, I don’t deserve to be in the Pakistan cricket team. And he said a word, which I can’t reveal to you guys.” He addressed.

Rizwan not prepared to retire from T20 cricket

The veteran claimed that he had nothing to do apart from the game itself and would continue to work hard in the practice sessions.

“But I am telling you that we are all human beings. I told you at the start that I made a mistake. My performance isn’t up to par, but that doesn’t mean that I give up in front of you guys. Till I have strength, I will try my best. If I don’t perform, then I will leave my place to the youngster.” Rizwan has stated.

“I am never scared of the media. If I am missing something, I accept it. If you are saying that Rizwan should retire at this age, then I will take it. I have a passion for the game, because that’s the only thing I can do. I have neither a business nor anything else. But I will keep working hard.”  He concluded.

Rawalpindiz’s next fixture of the PSL 2026 will be on April 21 against the Multan Sultans.
