'No noise, just consistency'-Fans react as Shreyas Iyer brings up 26-ball half-century during DC vs PBKS clash in IPL 2026
Fans praised Shreyas Iyer after his 26-ball fifty vs DC in IPL 2026, calling it “no noise, just consistency” as PBKS dominated the chase.

Punjab Kings once again scripted T20 history with a record-breaking performance in the Indian Premier League 2026 season, successfully chasing down a massive target of 265 against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday. With this victory, Punjab Kings registered the highest successful run chase in T20 cricket history, surpassing their own previous record of 262 against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2024.
The foundation of the remarkable chase was laid by openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh, who delivered a fearless start to the innings. The duo combined for a blistering 126-run partnership in just 6.5 overs, completely putting the Delhi Capitals under pressure. Arya scored a quickfire 43 off 17 deliveries, while Prabhsimran produced a destructive 76 off 26 balls, ensuring PBKS dominated the powerplay phase.
Despite losing momentum in the middle overs, Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer held his composure and guided the chase with maturity and precision. Having been dropped twice by Karun Nair, Iyer capitalised on the chances and anchored the innings with a composed half-century, eventually taking his side home in 19 overs with seven balls and six wickets to spare.
Fans widely praised Iyer’s calm, controlled finish, highlighting his leadership under pressure and his ability to absorb responsibility in a high-stakes chase. His innings, combined with the openers' explosive start, ensured Punjab Kings maintained their unbeaten momentum and further strengthened their position as one of the most dominant sides in IPL 2026.
Shreyas Iyer Guides PBKS in Record Chase vs DC
Delhi Capitals briefly fought back into the contest when their spinners, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav, dismissed both Punjab Kings openers in the seventh and eighth overs. Kuldeep struck again in the tenth over, breaching Cooper Connolly’s defence with a sharp wrong’un, reducing PBKS to 145/3 and bringing DC back into the game.
However, PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer soon regained control of the chase with remarkable composure. He immediately shifted gears, dispatching leg-spinner Vipraj Nigam for a towering six over the sightscreen in the 11th over. Nigam had earlier entered the attack as a concussion substitute for Lungi Ngidi, who was taken to the hospital after a head injury while attempting a catch at mid-off.
The contest took another dramatic turn when Karun Nair, who had come in as a fielding substitute, dropped Iyer on 28 at long-off in the 15th over. Just two deliveries later, Nair spilled another chance at long-on off Kuldeep Yadav, giving the PBKS skipper a crucial lifeline at a decisive stage of the innings.
Iyer made DC pay heavily for those errors, smashing 4, 6, 6 off the next three legal deliveries to swing the momentum firmly in Punjab’s favour. His second six over long-on brought up a fluent half-century off just 26 balls. He continued his aggressive intent by taking on T Natarajan with two consecutive sixes, effectively sealing the chase alongside Shashank Singh and guiding PBKS to a memorable victory with more than an over to spare.
