Maxwell's funny run-out of De Kock — Watch MLC 2026 viral clip

During the fifth encounter of the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2026 between the Washington Freedom and MI New York at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, Glenn Maxwell took a leaf out of Suresh Raina’s fielding book to complete a funny run-out of Quinton de Kock to stun the fans of world cricket.

It was a vital clash for the Freedom side, who started their campaign with a five-wicket defeat in the first game of the event against the Seattle Orcas, just 24 hours later. And Maxwell showed his funny acrobatics while bowling to complete the run-out.

Maxwell's quick thinking catches De Kock napping mid-pitch

It was the fifth ball of the defense for the Washington Freedom as Maxwell came to bowl the opening over. On the fourth ball of the over, Monank Patel drilled the part-time off spinner for a boundary over the wide mid-wicket region, beating the fielder at the deep.

On the very next delivery, Maxwell took the revenge by sending back the wicket-keeper batter as Monank couldn’t hit the tossed-up delivery and spooned it towards deep mid-wicket for the fielder to grab a simple catch.

But what he did to end the over was hard to believe. It was a simple delivery that the MI NY captain, Nicholas Pooran, smashed to the bowler being the striker. But Maxwell collected the ball and flicked an underarm throw between his legs to hit the stumps and caught the non-striker, Quinton de Kock, comfortably short.

That was also shocking to explain why Quinton de Kock was backing up the way he did. But the credit went to Maxwell for the hilarious fielding performance to send the southpaw for just one run.

Mitchell Owen's blazing 155 off 68 powers Washington Freedom to a 30-run win over MI New York

Earlier in the game, Washington posted a massive total of 245 runs in their allotted 20 overs for the loss of five wickets. The Australia batter, Mitchell Owen smashed 155 runs while opening the batting off 68 balls at a strike rate of 227.94, with the help of 11 boundaries and 13 sixes. Mark Chapman drilled 23 runs in 12 balls at a strike rate of 191.67.

But as it was the issue for them in their first clash, they couldn’t get the potential finish they expected and could add only 29 runs for the loss of four wickets in the last 29 balls.

In reply, MI New York fell short of the target by 30 runs. Most of their batters failed to convert the starts apart from Kieron Pollard, who remained unbeaten on 100 runs off 56 balls at a strike rate of 178.57, thanks to 11 boundaries and four sixes.
