India 1, South Africa 1. The 5-match T20I series is hanging evenly at 1-1 after the first two games. On December 11, at the PCA New Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh, South Africa defeated India by 51 runs.

Toss and the first innings:

India won the toss and decided to field first. The decision to bat second was probably for the dew factor. On a cold evening, there were heavy chances to see bowlers in the second innings struggling to grip the ball properly. In reality, it was the second batting team, which was the Men in Blue, who suffered the most.

Quinton de Kock turned into the wrecker-in-chief for the South African batting side. The experienced left-hand opener turned the star pacer like Arshdeep Singh into an ordinary bowler. He scored 90 off 46 with five boundaries and seven over-boundaries, which set the right tone for the team to secure a handsome total in the first innings. Quick fires from Donovan Ferreira and David Miller comfortably landed their team over the 200-run mark. Along with Singh, Jasprit Bumrah also had a bad day. He leaked 45 runs in 4 overs without taking a single wicket. Varun Chakravarthy was the only encouraging figure from the Indian bowling line-up.

Second innings:

Like the previous match, in this match too, Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma – the Indian openers – departed early in the second innings and left a mountain-sized task for the middle-order batters. Axar Patel tried to hinder a possible batting collapse, but captain Suryakumar Yadav again left the field without making any positive impact. South African bowlers found most of the challenges from Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya. Pandya was the best batter in the previous match, so in New Chandigarh, there were high expectations around him. But the all-rounder departed before he could do something significant for his team. Varma, who scored a half-century, was the lone warrior for India in today's match.
