India are set to face England in a three-match ODI series on July 14, 16 and 19. Ahead of the series, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced changes to the squad after injuries to Harshit Rana and Varun Chakaravarthy.

Fast bowler Harshit Rana has been ruled out of the ODI series due to a hamstring injury. The BCCI has named Prince Yadav as his replacement in India's squad for the three-match series against England.

The BCCI also made a change to India's T20I squad for the Zimbabwe series. Spinner Ravi Bishnoi has replaced Varun Chakaravarthy, who has been ruled out due to injury. Both replacements were confirmed by the board on Sunday (July 12, 2026).

India name Prince Yadav as replacement for Injured Harshit Rana

Harshit Rana has been ruled out of India's three-match ODI series against England after suffering a hamstring injury. The fast bowler felt discomfort in his right hamstring during the third T20I against England at Trent Bridge, and scans later confirmed a Grade 1 hamstring injury. He will now report to the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) for further treatment and rehabilitation.

The BCCI has named fast bowler Prince Yadav as Harshit's replacement for the ODI series. Prince impressed in domestic cricket with his performances for Delhi and also caught attention in the Delhi Premier League. He later earned a contract with Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL after a strong showing in the 2024-25 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Prince has already represented India in limited-overs cricket. He has played two ODIs and taken three wickets at an average of 31.33, while in four T20Is, he has claimed five wickets with a best of 3/22. In the IPL, the right-arm pacer has played 20 matches and picked up 19 wickets, making him a promising addition to India's ODI squad.

Rana has been ruled out of the ODI series against England, while Chakaravarthy will miss the upcoming T20I series against Zimbabwe. Varun Chakaravarthy is also recovering from a hamstring injury that ruled him out of the final two T20Is against England. Ravi Bishnoi has replaced him in India's squad for the Zimbabwe T20I series. Varun had only recently returned from a toe injury and managed to play the first two T20Is against England before suffering another setback.

How the changes affect India's playing XI for the England ODI series

India will begin the three-match ODI series against England with the first match at Edgbaston in Birmingham on July 14. After losing the five-match T20I series 4-0, the Men in Blue will be eager to bounce back and put in a much better performance in the 50-over format.

The return of senior batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli gives India a major boost ahead of the ODI series. Prince Yadav has also been added to the squad after Harshit Rana was ruled out with a hamstring injury. The right-arm fast bowler has impressed in domestic cricket and the IPL, and this series gives him a good chance to prove himself at the international level. India will hope the changes strengthen both the batting and bowling departments against a confident England side.
