India announce 15-member squad for West Indies ODI and T20I series — Know the full team

India have officially named their 15-member squad for the upcoming ODI and T20I series against West Indies. Here's the full list, key selections, and the biggest talking points from the announcement

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have revealed their 15-member squads for the upcoming three-match ODI series and the five-match T20I series against the West Indies, which are scheduled to take place from September with the opening 50-over clash taking place at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.  

 Under the leadership of Shubman Gill, India have picked Naman Dhir into the side, who will look to play a major role in their lower order with the bat, while Nitish Kumar Reddy has found his place back into the ODI squad and will be needed to play the all-rounder's role with both bat and ball in hand. 

India's full 15-member squad for the West Indies series revealed

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are in the team, as the latter, having scored a fine century during the third ODI against England at Lord's, is expected to open the innings with Gill, while Yashasvi Jaiswal likely to play as a backup opener in the squad. Ravindra Jadeja has also marked his way into the 50-over side. 

India’s ODI squad: Shubman Gill [C], Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ruturaj Gaikwad, KL Rahul [VC], Dhruv Jurel, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Prasidh Krishna, Gurnoor Brar, Mohammed Siraj, Auqib Nabi, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Naman Dhir.

India’s T20I squad: Shreyas Iyer [C], Abhishek Sharma, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Ishan Kishan [WK], Sanju Samson [WK], Tilak Varma [VC], Shivam Dube, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Arshdeep Singh, Prince Yadav, Mayank Yadav.

"Varun Chakaravarthy has been ruled out of the upcoming Japan T20I and the Asian Games owing to a side strain. The Men’s Selection Committee has named Vipraj Nigam as his replacement. Nitish Kumar Reddy, who was originally included in the Asian Games squad, has been withdrawn and will feature in the ODI series against the West Indies." The BCCI gave a statement. 

Key inclusions, exclusions, and selection talking points explained

Rishabh Pant, who is picked as the captain and wicket-keeper batter for the Rest of India squad against Jammu and Kashmir for the Irani Cup 2026, has also been overlooked in the 50-over side. He is not part of India's any white-ball squads at the moment. In the T20I side, most of the players are picked from the Afghanistan squad.

Jasprit Bumrah hasn't been picked in the squads for his committment to the Asian Games, which shows India's focus on the event. The premier pacer has been considered for ODI and T20Is. Mayank Yadav, meanwhile, has returned in his place to take on the Caribbean side. 

Mohammad Siraj has also been picked for the West Indies ODis along with Gurnoor Brar, who seems to be in India's plans for their upcoming ODI World Cup 2027 in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.
