The Indian fans brought so much banter to the stands during the final of the Asian Games 2026 for the Gold Medal between India and Pakistan at the Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin, when they sledged the Pakistan opening batter, Saim Ayub, after the latter’s dropped catches as the moment went viral across social media platforms.
India’s captain, Shreyas Iyer, won the toss and decided to bat first on a used surface. The cracks opened up and were anticipated to help the spinners, as the ball had been turning sharply, creating incredible pressure on the batters, especially in the second innings.
Indian fans taunt Saim Ayub after two dropped catches
Saim became the target of several chants. A viral video from the game shows the supporters sledging him over his fielding performance. One of the fans was heard saying, ‘Oyeee, Biriyani, ’ while another supporter taunted with ‘Ek aur catch chhod na,’ as the comments were delivered with typical banter.

“Chhodega bhai, Chhodega, Pakistan Chhodega’ was another layer of sledging that came from the Indian fans. The chants were linked to the dropped catches by the fielder. The famous phrase ‘koi garden mein nahi ghoomega’ from Rohit Sharma was also heard from the fans.

Ayub dropped two catches. On the fourth ball of the fifth over, he ran in from the deep and dived forward to get both hands. But he failed to hold on to the catch. Two balls later, the ball again slipped out of his hands as both Abhishek Sharma and Shreyas got new lives.
How India showed dominance vs Pakistan: Abhishek Sharma's 61 and a 211/6 total
India posted a massive score of 211 runs for the loss of six wickets in their allotted 20 overs, after opting to bat first. Abhishek Sharma, while opening the batting, smashed 61 runs off 28 balls at a strike rate of 217.86 with three boundaries and seven sixes, while Tilak Varma nailed an unbeaten 51 runs off 22 deliveries at a strike rate of 231.82, thanks to three boundaries and four sixes.
Pakistan kept losing wickets continuously in the chase. Hasan Nawaz was the shining light of the chase as he was unbeaten on 77 runs off 39 balls with four boundaries and six sixes at a strike rate of nearly 200.
