The Indian women's team created history after defeating the South Africa women's team in the final of the Women's ODI World Cup 2025 on November 2. The victory marked India’s first-ever ODI Women’s World Cup title. After years of near misses and hard work, the women’s team finally received the recognition and respect they deserved on the global stage.
Following the historic win, the players celebrated the special moment with former Indian legends Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami, who were invited to join the team during the celebrations. Their presence made the occasion even more emotional, as both players played a huge role in building the foundation of women’s cricket in India.

India Women Beat Australia in T20I Series
The Indian women's national cricket team recently travelled to Australia for a multi-format series that included ODIs, T20Is and a Test match against the Australia women's team. India performed very well in the T20I series and managed to defeat Australia. However, the team could not win the ODI series or the Test match.
India struggled in the longer formats, especially in the Test match, where they failed to score enough runs and also could not take regular wickets. Despite this setback, their performance in the T20I series remained the biggest positive from the tour.
Looking ahead, the team will now focus on preparing for the upcoming ICCWomen's T20 World Cup. The players are expected to play more short-format matches to improve their preparation. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is also likely to arrange more international tours for the team. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur confirmed that she will continue to lead the side across formats and is focused on winning the next World Cup.
