Injury scare for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi? RR coach gives big update after IPL 2026 clash vs SRH
The Rajasthan Royals (RR) coach, Vikram Rathour, has given a massive update on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's injury scare after the RR vs SRH clash of the IPL 2026.

For most of the evening during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 between the Rajasthan Royals and the Sunrisers Hyderabad in Jaipur, the centre of attraction was Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The left-handed opening batter celebrated the third-fastest century of the tournament off just 36 balls.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi cracked a dashing knock of 103 runs in 37 balls at a strike rate of 278.38, thanks to five boundaries and 12 sixes. But it wasn’t enough as Rajasthan’s poor fielding and bowling performance couldn’t take them over the line.
Rajasthan Royals coach breaks silence on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s fitness
There was a brief concerned moment when the teenager star limped off the field during the clash. He ran after the ball while stopping at the boundary, appeared in discomfort, and had to leave the ground midway through the innings.
However, there was relief soon after the end of the encounter, as the RR batting coach, Vikram Rathour, provided a positive fitness update on the southpaw, suggesting that the injury might not be serious and that the batter would be prepared for the next game a few days later.
“He was feeling something in his hamstring, but now he’s looking okay. They’ve treated him, so he’s looking fine. We’ll know in a day or so, but it doesn’t look like anything serious.” Rathour expressed in the press conference.
The update comes as a massive boost for Rajasthan, which drops down to the fourth position of the points table.
What exactly happened during RR vs Sunrisers Hyderabad clash
At the earlier stage of the game, the 15-year-old wonder kid signaled discomfort and was attended by the physio before being helped off the field. The visuals suggested that it could be either a hamstring strain or severe cramping due to the heavy workload at a young age. The Bihar-born player, who became the youngest to cross 1000 runs in T20s, reflected on his century knock.
“There wasn’t any specific plan to hit the first ball. But we discussed the match. Yash bhaiya said that we should play freely today. If we get the opportunity from the first ball, we should back our game - and that’s exactly what happened.” He addressed the end of the first innings.
Rajasthan will now turn its focus to facing the Punjab Kings on April 28 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh.
