The final match of the T20 World Cup 2026 between India and New Zealand is set to be played in a few hours at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Both teams have performed brilliantly, which is why fans are eagerly waiting for the match. In the semi-finals, India defeated England. Meanwhile, New Zealand defeated South Africa. Team India secured a place in the final by winning a high-scoring match by 7 runs. New Zealand chased down the target, winning by 9 wickets, to confirm their spot in the title match.

Ahead of the IND vs NZ title clash, the International Cricket Council (ICC) shared a special video of Rohit Sharma from the previous edition of the tournament. Rohit, who is the brand ambassador for the T20 World Cup 2026, was seen reliving India’s memorable triumph when the team lifted the title. In the final held in Barbados, Team India defeated South Africa by seven runs in a thrilling contest.

At one stage, South Africa needed just 30 runs off 30 balls, but India produced a remarkable comeback. Rohit’s captaincy played a crucial role as he backed and motivated the bowlers, helping the team deliver a match-winning performance and secure the title. This victory ended India’s 17-year wait for a T20 World Cup title, with Rohit Sharma becoming only the second Indian captain, after MS Dhoni, to lift the trophy.

ICC shares video of Rohit Sharma winning the 2024 T20 World Cup

On Sunday (March 8), ICC shared a video of the current brand ambassador of the T20 World Cup 2026, Rohit Sharma, on the social media platform Instagram. At the beginning of this video, Rohit can be seen touching the T20 World Cup trophy with his left hand. He does this several times and then lifts the trophy with both hands. After that, moments from the T20 World Cup 2024 final are shown, in which Rohit can be seen celebrating with the trophy.

After winning the T20 World Cup 2024, Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from T20Is in a press conference. Now Rohit plays only one format (ODI), as he has also retired from Test format. Rohit's current goal is to win the 2027 ODI World Cup. However, he will appear as a player, not as captain, because he was removed from captaincy last year.
