IPL 2026: Who said what after DC vs PBKS match 35
Punjab Kings chased a huge 265 with ease, led by Shreyas Iyer’s unbeaten 71, to beat Delhi Capitals by 6 wickets in IPL 2026.

Punjab Kings pulled off a sensational chase of 265 to thrash Delhi Capitals by 6 wickets in the IPL 2026. PBKS got to 265/4 in 18.5 overs. Shreyas Iyer was the captain who led the chase with a 71 not out off 36 balls, including 7 sixes. Prabhsimran Singh gave a fast start with 76, while Priyansh Arya scored 43 off 17 balls. Despite the loss of a few wickets, PBKS still batted at a good pace in pursuit of the target and won comfortably.
Earlier, Delhi Capitals have posted a massive 264/2 in 20 overs. KL Rahul was phenomenal, knocking 152* off 67 balls including 16 fours and 9 sixes. Nitish Rana contributed a big innings of 91 off 44 balls, and the two shared a huge 220-run stand. It seemed a winning total but PBKS got over the line with some fearless batting.
DC had some chances during the chase but could not take them. Karun Nair dropped Shreyas Iyer twice, and that was costly. Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, and Vipraj Nigam took wickets, but it was not enough. Punjab Kings showed strong batting and completed one of the biggest chases of the season.
DC vs PBKS: Who said what after the match
Axar Patel (Delhi Capitals Captain):
"Yes, we are doing the same mistakes time and time again. I think with the wicket being so flat, if you can't support your bowlers then we deserve to lose. (On dropping 4 catches) Yes, like I said, if you don't support your bowlers on a wicket like this, you deserve to lose. At the same time, our bowling unit need to look at themselves with the way they bowled in the powerplay. Our fast bowlers didn't bowl well in the powerplay and add to that our fielding which costed us the game. I felt, 264 was a really good score on this wicket. Well, I said at the toss as well that if we manage to win the crucial moments then the results will also change in our favour. We have to try and grab the momentum. We will go back to the drawing board and look at the things we can do better."

Shreyas Iyer (Punjab Kings Captain):
"It was scorching hot to come out there and field. To see bowlers getting hit for fours and sixes you kind of lose your mindset and don't know what to do in this situation but I know how the wicket was. We were actually presuming that the wicket would be turning but there wasn't much turn to offer. After the powerplay when Yuzi came in to bowl, the ball was holding a bit but not creating that much of an impact. Kudos to KL, the way he played was fabulous and it was pleasing to the eye. Whatever they get from here on, we just have to score one more run and see to it that we become victorious. That was the mindset, nothing more because whatever balls the bowlers were bowling at that particular timing, I think KL was improvising and he was playing beautiful shots. It wasn't looking as if he was trying really hard but I just said to myself that if they can, we can too."
Shreyas Iyer (Player of the Match, Punjab Kings Captain):
"I was very pleased, very happy at the end of first 20 overs. I have been working hard over the last couple of years. I have been working with Abhishek Nayyar for a while, working on my white ball as well as red ball game. For now, the focus is the IPL. But it was about trying to catchup with the demands of the white ball game. I was happy to help my team get to what I thought was a winning total. It is about stepping back a little bit and seeing where T20 cricket has gone. Watching the T20 World Cup and watching some young guys smash it from the first ball, I had to work on my six hitting. There was a time that the T20 game was different. I could take some time as an opener. But now it is about maximising the powerplay. In T20 cricket, the mindset I am in is that there is no time to say 'later'. In ODI cricket, you can hold off for a couple of overs and attack at the back end. But in T20 cricket, there is not time for you to think that way. There are certain match-ups where I fall back to hitting boundaries and six hitting becomes the secondary option. But I have been telling myself that six-hitting is the way to go in this format."
