During the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 clash between the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium, the fans witnessed a tense and brutal moment involving Krunal Pandya and Nicholas Pooran during the high-pressure encounter. 

The exchange between the two former team-mates didn’t cross the line and lead into anything major, the brief confrontation between the two veterans continued even after the game. It caught the attention of the viewers and the fans around the social media platforms. 

What sparked the Krunal-Pooran face-off after LSG vs RCB IPL 2026 clash?

The Super Giants kept fighting to keep the campaign alive with the pressure being visible on the field. Nicholas Pooran, who had returned to form with the bat during the previous contest against the Mumbai Indians, was one again promoted at number three in a crucial situation of the 19-over reduced encounter.

Krunal Pandya welcomed him with a scary bouncer. The left-arm spinner bowled a short ball of 119 kmph as the left-handed batter looked completely surprised by the pace and bounce and failed to get the right connection. The Baroda-born followed it up with another short ball, but this time, he managed to get some bat on the ball for a single. 

As he completed the run, the Trinidad bowled walked close to the spinner, who was marched towards him, and the two exchanged a few words. The moment looked a bit heated on camera, but both players quickly moved on as the bowler returned to his bowling mark to continue the over. It's noteworthy that both these players were part of the the same franchise in 2022.

Even after the end of the game, a video went viral where Krunal and Pooran were seen to be engaged in a heated altercation. The latter pushed the RCB spinner in a funny way as the fans captured it in a video.

Could Krunal Pandya and Nicholas Pooran face ICC disciplinary action?

It could have been a case where the match referee would have had a word with both the players had it been an international game, which would come under the International Cricket Council (ICC). But this being a IPL 2026 contest, it will be the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) or the IPL governing council, who would take the final decision.

Meanwhile, Lucknow held their nerve in the 19-over reduced encounter to earn a nine-run victory. The home side smashed 209/3, shouldered by opener, Mitchell Marsh’s fine knock of 111 runs in 56 balls with the help of nine boundaries and nine sixes at a strike rate of 198.21. Their captain, Rishabh Pant, slammed unbeaten 32 runs in 10 balls.

On the other hand, Bengaluru, despite losing two early wickets, had a chance of completing the chase. Rajat Patidar clubbed 61 runs off 31 balls, thanks to three boundaries and six sixes. But none of the contributions were enough for the defending champions to get over the winning line.
