The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has already completed their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 games at the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, as the ground may also host a few playoff games of the competition. The remaining two home games of the side will be played in Raipur.

A major security lapse has unfolded at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium after nearly 240 CCTV camera feeds were allegedly disabled. This breach has raised immediate concerns around the surveillance at one of the best and busiest venues of the game.

Major security lapse raises concerns during live game

This news has arrived when the Rajat Patidar-led side is prepared to play an away fixture against the Delhi Capitals. The incident has once again brought stadium security and operational protocols under the security of the event. The officials confirmed that the real-time monitoring was restored using the backup measures after the issue was detected.

The police have revealed that two employees of subcontractor, IVS Digital Solutions, identified as Manjunath E and Abdul Kalam, gained unauthorized access to the venue’s CCTV server room. They used a deactivated access card and got inside without using a valid pass, breaching the security protocols.

The duo, as reported, cut the NVR and fiber connections, disrupting the surveillance across the key areas of the ground. These included entry gates, concourse sectors, the D Corporate Stand, and many cameras positioned near the stadium premises.

A case has been registered at the Cubbon Park police station, with the investigation underway to determine the extent of the breach and possible motives.

The incident has added to the massive list of concerns around the operations of the venue, as the Bengaluru police have cracked down on a ticket-marketing racket. A canteen worker, previously, was arrested after authorities seized nearly 100 tickets that were being sold at inflated prices for their fixture against the Lucknow Super Giants.
