Mumbai Indians sign Mahipal Lomror and Ruchit Ahir as injury replacements for Quinton de Kock and Raj Angad Bawa in IPL 2026
Mumbai Indians have signed Mahipal Lomror and Ruchit Ahir as injury replacements for Quinton de Kock and Raj Angad Bawa ahead of their IPL 2026 clash against Rajasthan Royals.

Mumbai Indians have made two important changes to their squad ahead of their IPL 2026 match against Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium. MI officially signed Mahipal Lomror and Ruchit Ahir as injury replacements for Quinton de Kock and Raj Angad Bawa, who have both been ruled out for the remainder of the tournament.
Quinton de Kock suffered a tendon injury in his left wrist before MI’s clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad, while Raj Angad Bawa, who has represented India Under-19 and India A teams, picked up a ligament tear in his right thumb during the match against Punjab Kings. Both players have now returned home to continue their recovery.
Mumbai Indians have struggled throughout IPL 2026 and are already out of the playoff race after losing nine out of their thirteen matches. The franchise will now look to finish the season on a positive note and also test new players before the next campaign.
Who is Mahipal Lomror? — The experienced all-rounder MI have brought in to replace Quinton de Kock
Mahipal Lomror is a 26-year-old left-handed batting all-rounder from Rajasthan. He is a very good middle-order batsman and can bowl slow left-arm spin if required. Mumbai Indians signed him for INR 50 lakh for the rest of the IPL 2026 season.
Lomror already has good IPL experience and has played 40 matches in the tournament. He previously represented Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, while he was also part of Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans squads earlier. Across his IPL career, he has scored 527 runs with a strike rate above 141.
The Rajasthan cricketer is expected to add more depth to Mumbai Indians’ middle order. His ability to attack spinners and contribute as a part-time bowler gives MI another useful option against Rajasthan Royals.
Who is Ruchit Ahir? — The 25-year-old Saurashtra bowler replacing Raj Angad Bawa at Mumbai Indians
Ruchit Ahir is a 25-year-old wicketkeeper-batter from Saurashtra who joins Mumbai Indians for INR 30 lakh. Even though some reports earlier described him as a bowler, Ahir is mainly known for his aggressive batting and wicketkeeping skills in domestic cricket.
Ahir has played 16 List A matches and 12 T20 matches for Saurashtra. He impressed MI scouts during the DY Patil T20 Cup while representing the Reliance team in the pre-season tournament. His T20 strike rate of over 169 also caught the attention of the Mumbai Indians management.

This is Ahir’s first opportunity in the IPL, and MI may use the remaining matches to test his talent under pressure. His attacking batting style could provide extra firepower to Mumbai Indians’ lower middle order.
De Kock and Bawa Both out injured — How MI's two replacements change their squad against RR match
Quinton de Kock played only three matches for Mumbai Indians this season but made a strong impact earlier with an unbeaten century against Punjab Kings. Raj Angad Bawa also featured in only three matches and picked up two wickets before his injury ruled him out of the tournament.
The arrival of Lomror and Ahir gives Mumbai Indians more flexibility ahead of their final league match against Rajasthan Royals. Lomror’s all-round abilities strengthen the middle order, while Ahir adds another wicketkeeping and batting option to the squad.
And with MI already out of the playoffs race, the team management could also afford to use this game to try out some new faces and look at the future. Rajasthan Royals on the other hand will look to capitalize on the inconsistent form of Mumbai and will aim to confirm their place for playoffs.
