During the LSG vs KKR IPL 2026 thriller, LSG tail-ender Mohammed Shami smashed six to force the game move to the Super Over.

The Lucknow Super Giants vs Kolkata Knight Riders (LSG vs KKR) match in the IPL 2026 at Lucknow on Sunday night (April 26) experienced many ups and downs for both teams. While KKR was just a moment away from snatching a victory, LSG star Mohammed Shami forced the game to move into the Super Over with a dramatic last-ball six.
While KKR were in the 10th or last place and LSG were in the ninth position in the IPL 2026 points table before the match, both teams badly wanted to win the match to stay in the competition. After LSG sent the visitors to bat first, KKR scored 155/7 in 20 overs.
In reply, LSG batters fought hard to chase the target. The last over of the regular game experienced 16 runs and one wicket, as LSG ended the chase at 155/8 in 20 overs, as the match moved to the Super Over. On the final ball, LSG needed seven runs to win. While Kartik Tyagi delivered a fuller, Mohammed Shami smashed a six over the long off to tie the game.

KKR scored 155/7 after Rinku Singh heroic finish
After KKR were sent to bat first, they were struggling at 93/7 in 15 overs. Apart from the skipper Ajinkya Rahane (10) and Cameron Green (34), only Rinku Singh managed to reach a double-digit score in that innings. Rinku later managed to hit four sixes in a row in the final over, as KKR added 26 runs in the final over to stretch the total to 155/7 in 20 overs.
Rinku Singh scored 83 not out off 51 balls with seven fours and five sixes. Meanwhile, Mohsin Khan was the stand-out bowler for LSG, as he claimed a five-wicket haul, with the bowling figures of 4-1-23-5.
Last over had enough drama
In chase, LSG had a slow start, batting at 63/1 in 10 overs. While there was a run-rate pressure, LSG were losing wickets at regular intervals. Opener Aiden Markram (31), captain Rishabh Pant (42), and Ayush Badoni (24) scored crucial runs but lost wickets at the important time. Himmat Singh (19) and Mohammed Shami (11*) had important cameos to stretch the game to the Super Over.
In the final over, LSG needed 1`7 runs to win. After conceding a leg-bye, Kartik Tyagi delivered two back-to-back no-balls with two more runs. While Himmat Singh utilised the second free hit with a four to make the chase eight runs off the last four balls, he was dismissed on the next ball. After Prince Yadav snatched a single, Shami had a dot ball before ending that over with a six.
