India’s hopes of qualifying for the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025/27 final have remained alive after the West Indies blew away the Pakistan side for just 120 runs in the fourth innings to earn the victory by 90 runs during the opening Test of the two-match series at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba in Trinidad.
West Indies were bundled out for 311 runs in the first innings and gained a small lead of 29 runs by bundling out the tourists for 282 after Justin Greaves returned with figures of 5/27 in 11 overs. Apart from Babar Azam’s unbeaten knock of 58 runs, no one could stand with the bat as the visitors were bowled out for 120 in the fourth innings.

Pakistan, with the defeat during the opening Test of the series against West Indies, dropped to the bottom of the points table in the WTC 2025/27. They have got just one victory in five clashes besides facing four defeats at a PCT of 6.67.

Meanwhile, the West Indies, thanks to their second win of the championship, moved to the penultimate position of the table at a PCT of 22.73. The Pat Cummins-led Australian side holds the top position of the table with seven wins in eight clashes at a PCT of 87.50.

Can Pakistan still make the WTC Final? Here's the exact math
The second Test of the series against West Indies for Pakistan will be from August 02 at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad. This will be followed by their three-match Test series against England, beginning on August 19 at Leeds. The second encounter will be at Lord’s on August 27, while the third game will be from September 09 at Edgbaston.

Pakistan have the slightest of chances to qualify for the final of the WTC 2025/27. They will need to win all of the rest of the games in the competition and still expect a few results to go in their way.
