Pakistan met the West Indies during the opening Test of the two-match series at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad. The home side’s captain, Roston Chase, won the toss and opted to bat first on a surface, which looked flat and good to bat on. 

West Indies, in the first innings, were bundled out for 311 runs as their two batters, Kavem Hodge and their wicket-keeper batter, Shai Hope, smashed their respective half-centuries.

On the second delivery of the third over, Kemar Roach went a bit wide of crease and got the ball to angle in from a length just outside off-stump. It sneaked through the bat-pad gate and hit the timber of Azan Awais for a nine-ball duck. Imam-ul-Haq, on 63 runs, went for a flashing drive and was caught into the hands of the slip fielder. 

Towards the end of the second day’s play, Babar Azam, got an outside edge into the hands of the wicket-keeper for 23 runs. Shamar Joseph also opened up Salman Agha for 20 runs as the off-stump went cartwheeling out of the ground.

Shan Masood, after scoring 109 runs, went for the loose drive and got an inside edge onto the off-stump. Aamer Jamal, for three runs, didn’t move his feet and was trapped leg before the stumps. Justin Greaves picked up his maiden five-wicket haul as Pakistan were bundled out for 282 runs and gave away a lead of 29 runs.
