The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is to take legal action against Zimbabwean fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani. The pacer withdrew from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) recently to participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Muzarabani has been signed by Kolkata Knight Riders for the IPL 2026 season. His sudden exit from the PSL has reportedly upset the PCB.

Muzarabani was initially picked by Islamabad United for PSL season 11. The franchise signed him for PKR 11 million for the upcoming tournament starting on March 26. However, the fast bowler decided to leave the PSL contract after receiving an offer from Kolkata Knight Riders. He joined the IPL team as a replacement for Mustafizur Rahman.

Mustafizur Rahman was earlier released by the franchise following instructions from the BCCI. After this change, KKR approached Muzarabani to strengthen their pace attack for the new season. The Zimbabwe pacer recently impressed fans with his performance in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

Muzarabani’s IPL Move Sparks Controversy

According to a report by Geo Super, the PCB is unhappy with Muzarabani’s decision and is exploring legal options. The board believes the player withdrew from the PSL at the last moment. This move has raised concerns about players leaving the league after signing contracts.

A similar situation happened last year in the PSL. South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch was selected by Peshawar Zalmi as a Diamond Pick. However, he later left the tournament to join Mumbai Indians as an injury replacement. As a result, Bosch was banned from the PSL for one year.

Muzarabani was one of the standout bowlers during the T20 World Cup. He finished as the joint third-highest wicket-taker with 13 wickets as Zimbabwe reached the Super Eights stage. Confirming his signing, Kolkata Knight Riders said, "KKR have signed Zimbabwe fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani to join the squad for the upcoming Indian Premier League 2026 season." The franchise also highlighted his height, pace and ability to strike during important phases of the game.
