“Was misguided”- Prithvi Shaw and Akriti Agarwal back together after calling off engagement

The Indian opening batter, Prithvi Shaw, and Akriti Agarwal have decided to give their relationship another chance after calling off their engagement a few weeks ago. In a new Instagram statement posted by both of them. Akriti opened up about what led to their separation.  

Currently, Shaw is featuring in the Ranji Trophy 2026/27 for the Maharashtra side as he has been leading them against Services in the opening round of the competition in the absence of Ruturaj Gaikwad. The right-handed batter smashed 70 runs off 73 balls at a strike rate of 95.89 with eight boundaries and one six.

Both Akriti and Shaw put up a statement, which they addressed as ‘a personal clarification’ and shared all the reasons for their decision to call off their engagement. The former also took the responsibility for the decision and the hurt it caused.

“When I called off our engagement, I let the opinions of people close to me — who seemed to know our relationship better than we did — influence how I saw my fiancé and our relationship. I feel I was misguided, and I decided without giving us the honest conversation we deserved.” The post expressed.

“We have since spoken openly, understood each other, and chosen to be together again. Together, we are enough for each other, and we don’t need anyone else. This time, I want our future to be guided by our own understanding, trust and love. Please respect our decision as we begin again.” It addressed.

India's Prithvi and Akriti declared their engagement in March 2026 as the cricketer shared pictures from their engagement ceremony on social media, announcing their relationship. However, later in September 2026, Akriti posted a cryptic note about cheating, sparking speculation.

“With a heavy heart, I would like to share that my fiancé and I have decided to part ways due to different goals and circumstances for our future. As much as we love and care for each other, we've come to accept that our paths are not meant to be together.” Akriti added in an emotional note.
