Tehelka sting: Bookie Rachit Bhatia's DPL leak and CSK fixing claim

Tehelka’s Special Investigation team used hidden cameras and undercover reporters to expose a spot-fixing and playing-XI leak operation within the country's franchise cricket. The investigation, published under ‘BigCricket Operations’, claimed that the former Ranji player Rachit Bhatia had fixed five games from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

All of those games were of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), where their player, Vansh Bedi, was part of leaking the playing XI. Bhatia, reportedly, was alleged to be the middleman at the centre of the operation.

Bhati debuted for the Nagaland side during the Ranji Trophy 2018/19 and works as a selector and coach for the Delhi team across the U14, U17, and the U19 age groups. The Tehelka sting has brokered inside information between the young Delhi-based cricketers and the London-based bookmakers, using Snapchat as the primary communication channel.

The player was not named in the Original report. But the reports have identified him as CSK’s Vansh Bedi, the 22-year-old wicket-keeper batter from Uttarakhand. When the IPL season ended, the operation turned to the Delhi Premier League, where India's Bedi played for the Central Delhi Kings in DPL 2026.

The alleged playing XI leak rate has dropped to INR 40 lakh per game, as the investigation claimed that the guarantee rose. He claimed the DPL information was 100% accurate, compared to 90% for the IPL. The DPL offered real-time betting chances that made the leaked information valuable.

Bhatia allegedly received the playing XI information of the CSK side, where the rate was INR 60 lakh per game. The information was forwarded to London-based bookmakers via Snapchat. The total earnings from the five games came close to INR 3 crore.

The communication system used emoji codes to represent multiple players, avoiding the names. The physical meetings took place in Model Town, Delhi, and at the Hotel Shangri-La. The Playing XI information was paid for within 1 to 1.5 hours of delivery.

The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led Super Kings failed to reach the playoffs during the previous IPL, having won their last title during the IPL 2023 under the leadership of MS Dhoni.
