Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur gave fans one of the funniest moments of IPL 2026 during the Mumbai Indians vs Rajasthan Royals clash at the Wankhede Stadium. The two former Chennai Super Kings teammates were involved in a playful on-field exchange during the final over of Rajasthan Royals’ innings.

The drama happened in the 20th over when Shardul Thakur thought he had dismissed Jadeja with a slower delivery. Jadeja mistimed the shot towards cover, and Shardul celebrated with a big fist pump and smile. However, the third umpire quickly checked the delivery and confirmed it was a no-ball because Shardul had overstepped.

Jadeja immediately responded in hilarious fashion by copying Shardul’s celebration right back at him. The RR all-rounder then made full use of the free hit and smashed back-to-back boundaries off the MI pacer. The funny exchange between the two players quickly went viral on social media during the match.

After surviving because of the no-ball, Jadeja looked fully confident at the crease. On the free-hit delivery, Shardul bowled short at the stumps and Jadeja pulled the ball powerfully towards mid-wicket for a boundary. The RR batter followed it up with another crisp four through the cover region on the next ball.

Jadeja then copied Shardul’s fist-pump celebration again, which made the crowd cheer loudly at the Wankhede Stadium. Fans enjoyed the funny banter between the two Indian all-rounders during the pressure situation.

Jadeja stayed not out on 19 runs from 11 balls and helped Rajasthan Royals finish on a high with 205/8 in 20 overs. Jofra Archer too had a crucial late cameo of 32 runs off 15 balls as RR added on 73 runs in the last five overs to put pressure on Mumbai Indians.

Rajasthan Royals had to win to keep their play-off hopes alive, and they delivered an impressive all-round show. RR defeated Mumbai Indians by 30 runs and officially booked its place in the IPL 2026 playoffs.

Earlier in the innings, RR lost Vaibhav Sooryavanshi cheaply for just four runs, while Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 27 before getting out. Dhruv Jurel added 38 runs off 26 balls and Dasun Shanaka smashed 29 off 15 deliveries to rebuild the innings in the middle overs.

Mumbai Indians had a terrible start during the chase and were reduced to 38/4 in just 5.1 overs. Jofra Archer completely changed the game with the ball by dismissing Rohit Sharma and Naman Dhir early. Suryakumar Yadav scored 60 runs and Hardik Pandya added 34, but MI still could not chase the target.
