After Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag chose to bowl first, Gujarat Titans scored 209/4 in 20 overs. During the strategic time out, while Rajasthan Royals players were involved in reshaping their strategy, there was a scene where captain Riyan Parag had an unpleasant talk with the pacer Tushar Deshpande. Although the pacer was in the Impact players' list, he wasn't selected ultimately. Understanding the situation, the assistant and fast bowling coach Shane Bond quickly pushed Deshpande far to cool down the situation.
