While practising, Rohit attempted a lofted shot after asking for the nets to be removed, but the ball accidentally struck a ground staff member on the knee, who was working nearby.

Despite recovering from a hamstring injury himself, Rohit immediately stopped his session and rushed to check on the injured staff member. His quick response and concern drew praise, as he personally ensured that the groundsman received immediate attention and support on the field.

According to visuals shared by the Mumbai Indians on their official X handle, Rohit was seen guiding the staff to provide first aid, including placing an ice pack on the injured knee. He also instructed others to help the staff member sit comfortably and keep his leg elevated on an ice box. After ensuring proper care and medical assistance, Rohit interacted with the injured groundsman and made sure he was taken for further treatment, highlighting his humility and responsibility beyond the game.

Rohit Sharma had been sidelined for nearly three weeks in IPL 2026 after sustaining a hamstring injury during the Mumbai Indians’ clash against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 12. The setback forced the veteran batter to miss five consecutive matches, including two games against Chennai Super Kings and one each against Punjab Kings, Gujarat Titans, and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

He made a strong return to action against Lucknow Super Giants, delivering a match-winning performance under pressure.
