India assistant Coach Ryan ten Doeschate set to resign after England ODI series, check the reasons
India assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate is set to resign after the England ODI series. Check the real reasons behind his decision.

India assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate is reportedly set to step down after the three-match ODI series against England. According to reports, the former Netherlands cricketer has completed his initial two-year stint with Team India and is now considering leaving the role. If approved, the England ODI series could be his final assignment with the team.
As per a Cricbuzz report, the former Dutch cricketer has informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) about his decision and has requested to be relieved of his duties. The report states that both sides are expected to part ways on mutual consent after the completion of his current tenure.
The report also claims that Ten Doeschate wants to resign for personal reasons, mainly to spend more time with his family. However, his exit has not been officially confirmed yet, as the BCCI and head coach Gautam Gambhir are still expected to make the final decision.
Why is Ten Doeschate moving on from his role after the England ODI series?
Ryan ten Doeschate is reportedly planning to leave his role as India's assistant coach for personal reasons. Neither the BCCI nor head coach Gautam Gambhir has officially confirmed the reason behind his decision. However, a source told several media agencies that the Board wants him to continue, but the final decision depends on Ten Doeschate.
According to the report, his decision is not linked to job dissatisfaction or India's recent performances. Instead, the former Netherlands all-rounder wants a role that involves less travel. As India's assistant coach, he has spent long periods away from home due to frequent tours across different countries.

Ten Doeschate is said to be looking for more time with his family in London, where his wife and three young sons live. After completing his initial two-year contract with Team India, he could return to franchise cricket, where his coaching experience with Kolkata Knight Riders and India makes him a strong candidate. However, he is expected to decide on his future only after his exit from the national team is officially confirmed.
India will need a good replacement for Ryan ten Doeschate
If Ryan ten Doeschate leaves after the England ODI series, India will have to find a suitable replacement in the coaching staff. Although his role was not always in the spotlight, he worked closely with head coach Gautam Gambhir and played an important part in the team's preparations over the last two years.
His reported departure would also be the second major change in Gambhir's support staff after Abhishek Nayar's exit after the 2023-24 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Changes in a coaching team are common, as head coaches often bring in new members to introduce fresh ideas while also building a trusted support system.

Finding the right replacement will be important, especially with Gambhir facing pressure after India's recent results. With the BCCI closely reviewing the team's performances, every decision involving the coaching staff is expected to be watched carefully in the coming months.
Only T Dilip set to stay back with Team India amid coaching overhaul
T. Dilip is expected to remain with Team India despite the ongoing changes in the coaching staff. Earlier reports suggested that the fielding coach might not receive another extension. However, recent reports indicate that the BCCI and the team management are now keen to retain him for another term.
Dilip has been an important member of India's support staff since Rahul Dravid's tenure. He became widely known for introducing the Best Fielding Medal ceremony during the 2023 ODI World Cup. After India's T20 World Cup 2024 triumph, most of the coaching staff left, but Dilip was the only member who received an extension under Gautam Gambhir.
At present, Gambhir's coaching team includes batting coach Sitanshu Kotak, spin bowling coach Sairaj Bahutule, fast-bowling coach Morne Morkel, assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate, and fielding coach T. Dilip. With changes expected in the support staff, the BCCI may appoint new coaches, but Gambhir's opinion is likely to play a key role in the selection process.
If the latest reports are accurate, Dilip could become the only senior member of the current support staff to continue with Team India during the coaching overhaul. An official announcement is still awaited, but retaining him would provide some stability as the BCCI reshapes the coaching setup for the future.
