During the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 clash between the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and the Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Eden Gardens, Shubman Gill took on the mystery premier spinner, Sunil Narine, for a couple of massive sixes to shift the momentum in their favor.

The home side, put into bat first, posted a massive score of 247 runs for the loss of two wickets in their allotted 20 overs, thanks to the incredible knock of their opener, Finn Allen, who clubbed 93 runs off 35 balls, thanks to four boundaries and 10 sixes at a strike rate of 265.71.

How Gill read Narine — The shot selection behind two back-to-back sixes

Sunil Narine broke the momentum of the Gujarat side with a two-run fifth over of the innings, including the wicket of Nishant Sindhu on the very first ball. With another superb over to end the power play, the Titans needed to break free with a few big shots.

Watch the Gill vs Narine here:

The GT captain took the onus on his shoulders and cracked two successive sixes in the seventh over of the innings. On the second ball of the over, the right-handed batter got down onto his knee and swung it over wide long-on for a six.

Two balls later, the Punjab-born shimmied down the track and went close to the ball. That allowed him to play with the spin as it was shovelled high over mid-wicket for a six. He smacked two successive sixes against the left-arm spinner, Anukul Roy, into the stands.

What it means for KKR vs GT — Gill’s six blitz changes the match equation

Shubman Gill celebrated his 31st half-century of the IPL in 33 balls with a single in the 11th over of the innings and continued the same aggression with two over boundaries and a couple of boundaries. He was finally dismissed by Narine in the 17th over of the innings.

On the second ball of the over, the Indian captain went inside the line and then looked to help it on its way with the sweep. It stuck sweetly, but the fielder grabbed a fine catch near the ropes to send back the batter into the hut.
