Watch Temba Bavuma smash Pat Cummins for an out-of-stadium six on Day 2 of the SA vs AUS 2nd Test at St George’s Park. See how South Africa struggled with the bat against Australia and finished the day at 97/5

On the second day of the second Test match between South Africa and Australia at the St George’s Park in Port Elizabeth, the home captain, Temba Bavuma, smashed a massive six out of the stadium against his opposite number, Pat Cummins, as the moment went viral on social media platforms.
The second day was late to start for nearly six hours due to the wet outfield, as the rain made it incredibly tough for the groundsmen to make the field fit to play. Later on, the sunshine made it better for the management to hold the game.
The six: Bavuma hooks Cummins out of St George’s Park
It was the fourth ball of the 36th over of the innings when Cummins went for a short ball at Bavuma. That has been the same type of bowling the bowlers have used against the batter. But this time around, the home captain was prepared to take it on.

It was a bouncer over the left shoulder. And Bavuma hooked it all the way over the fine leg region. He had no intention of keeping it down as he used the pace of Cummins beautifully to his advantage. He spotted the length early and swivelled across to nail it long way over the ropes for half a dozen.

Bavuma was the only batter who survived both the day’s play as the Rainbow Nation continued to struggle with the bat. He remained unbeaten on 41 runs off 108 balls thanks to his five boundaries and one six.

The second day’s play started on a poor note for the Proteas, who lost MJ Ackerman early as the left-handed batter went for an expensive drive and ended up getting an outside edge into the hands of the wicket-keeper, Alex Carey. Scott Boland continued to show his skills with the ball.
Mitchell Starc sent back Matthew Breetzke for four runs. This time, he played a nothing shot and produced a fine edge through to the keeper as the home side were four down. The 52-run fifth-wicket stand stablled them a little as South Africa ended the second day with 97/5.
Brief Scores: South Africa 97/5 (Temba Bavuma 41*, Scott Boland 4/31) vs Australia
