Another high-profile ball-tampering episode surfaced during the 2016 Test between the Australia national cricket team and the South Africa national cricket team in Hobart, involving then South African captain Faf du Plessis. 

Television footage appeared to show du Plessis applying saliva mixed with a mint to shine the ball, raising questions over whether an artificial substance had been used.
