The Indian left-hander, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, shared a priceless reaction when Shreyas Iyer gave a funny reply to a fan at the airport in Japan ahead of India's Asian Games 2026 clash, and the moment went viral across social media.  

Sooryavanshi, who was superb in the recent Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) before making his debut for the blue brigade during the five-match T20I series against England, was out of the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan, which was played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.

Shreyas Iyer was passing by a massive fan group in Japan when one fan shouted that she liked the Indian captain so much and had no idea the player liked her back. However, the Mumbai-born player put a hilarious reply of ‘sorry’ in the reaction as it went viral on social media platforms.

Sooryavanshi was the next player in the line and was impressed with the hype of Iyer. He had a funny smile on his face during the interaction as he moved past the fan group with his suitcase. The Indian team has received a warm reception for the Asian Games in Japan.

The T20 World Cup-winning side, which won the Gold medal in the previous edition, has put up a strong squad to aim for the same result in 2026.

Iyer-led India begin their Asian Games 2026 campaign with a warm-up T20I against Japan

The Shreyas Iyer-led side landed in Japan for their historic T20I series, which begins on September 22 before heading to Nagoya for the main Asian Games campaign beginning on September 28. The one-off 20-over clash against Japan will be played at the Sano International Cricket Ground in Sano, Kanto, while the Asian Games will be played at the Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin.

After the one-off T20I for India against Japan, India will get a six-day break before participating in the second quarter-final, while their arch-rivals, Pakistan, will also play the first semifinal. Those two sides could face each other in the semifinal or the final, which is going to take place on October 03 in Korogi.
