In the previous fixture of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 clash between the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and the Rajasthan Royals (RR), the former went through the top and middle order of the Royals side in the blink of an eye. But in the reverse fixture, there was a chance for the Royals to make a strong comeback.

In that last fixture in Hyderabad, Praful Hinge dismissed the aggressive 15-year-old wonder kid, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, for a golden duck as the left-handed batter was bounced out against the short ball. But the sun had risen again, and it was a chance for the latter to take his revenge on the bowler.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi enjoys sweet revenge on Praful Hinge in IPL 2026

The first ball of the face off between Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Hinge saw the batter looking to loft the good length delivery through the line, but was beaten on the outside edge. The very next delivery was put into the stands by the southpaw, who got into an excellent position and nailed the pull over the deep square leg.

The fourth ball of the over was another short of a length delivery as Hinge tried to replicate the same dismissal from the last fixture between the two sides, but the Bihar-born helped it along towards the long leg and had plenty of height to take the ball over the ropes.

Under pressure, the right-arm pacer put a good length ball that angled across as the batter held a firm base and stayed leg side to loft it through the line as the ball sailed over the long-off fence for another six.

The over finished with the fourth consecutive six off the over by the batter, who again lofted through the line and used the power to clear the boundary in the long-on rope. Suddenly, they managed 25 runs without any damage in the very first over of the innings.

Sooryavanshi also welcomed Pat Cummins with his first-ball six as he timed the ball over the deep mid-wicket fence. He seemed to have come with a plan of smashing the best bowlers of the world, and Cummins joined the list of Jasprit Bumrah and Josh Hazlewood. The left-handed batter moved to 36 runs off just nine balls.

The SRH captain won the toss and decided to bowl first on a surface which they reckoned would get better to chase later in the evening, while the home captain, Riyan Parag, was comfortable in batting first.

Brief Scores (at the time of writing): RR- 106/1 (Vaibhav Sooryavanshi 70*, Eshan Malinga 1/18) vs SRH
