From his very first ball of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 clash between the Rajasthan Royals and the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi seemed to be on a mission. The 15-year-old wonder kid tried to loft his very first ball for a massive six. Even though he missed the connection, the desire was always there.

But on his second delivery, the batter made it clear how he would go in this knock. When the Sunrisers Hyderabad captain, Pat Cummins, won the toss and opted to bowl first, he perhaps wasn’t prepared for the action in the next hour.

On his second ball, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi got into a good position and nailed the pull against Praful Hinge over the deep square leg region for a massive six, and continued the same for the next three overs to crack four successive sixes around the park.

As he had been doing in the entire tournament by dispatching the best bowlers of the opposition, including Jasprit Bumrah or Josh Hazlewood, the left-handed batter welcomed Pat Cummins with another huge six. The southpaw used his fearless approach and pulled the short ball in front of the square.

The 15-year-old got a top-edge against Eshan Malinga as the ball steadied at the backward square for another over boundary. He completed his half-century off just 15 balls with another over boundary. But this time, he didn’t stop at this position.

The Bihar-born kneeled and launched Sakib Hussain for another six over the backward square before thumping the slot ball down the ground for another six two balls later to bring up his 36-ball century. It was the third-fastest century of the event by the batter as he missed his own record of 35 balls to be at the second position.

Apart from Sooryavanshi, Dhruv Jurel also contributed a dashing knock of 51 runs in just 36 balls at a strike rate of 145.71 with the help of eight boundaries and one six. Sakib was excellent with his bowling for the first couple of overs.

Brief Scores (at the time of writing): RR- 214/4 (Vaibhav Sooryavanshi 103, Pat Cummins 1/27) vs SRH.
