Virat Kohli would know how luck helped him to reach a strong knock during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 clash for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) against the Gujarat Titans (GT) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, as the home side reached a clinical position in the 206-run chase.

It could have been a different story had Washington Sundar grabbed the dolly when Virat Kohli chipped his very first ball to the fielder. But the fielder dropped a sitter, giving the former captain a golden chance to show his ability in another chase of the game.

Virat Kohli nails Jason Holder for successive sixes in IPL 2026

Kohli was on 69 runs off just 46 balls when the Bengaluru side reached 141 for the loss of two wickets in 13 overs, with Devdutt Padikkal already going back to the dressing room after celebrating his half-century in just 20 deliveries.

On the first ball of the 14th over, Kohli got over the bounce off the short ball against Jason Holder and knocked it back to the bowler. On the second ball, the right-arm pacer went a little forward. The right-handed batter stepped out of his crease and smoked this length delivery over deep mid-wicket region for a towering six.

It was a high and handsome shot as the crowd celebrated it into the stands. He backed it up with another six. This time, the right-handed batter stood tall and lofted it over the long-off region as the ball went for the distance.

However, Kohli couldn’t celebrate much and was dismissed for 81 runs in just 44 balls, thanks to eight boundaries and four over boundaries. He went for the pull and got the ball with the inside edge into the stumps as the entire crowd appreciated him.

It was the fifth fifty-plus score for Kohli in just seven innings against Gujarat. Earlier in the game, the Titans posted 205/3 in their allotted 20 overs with Sai Sudharsan celebrating the fine knock of 100 runs in 58 balls.
