What started only as a normal Tri-Nation series between India, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan’s A-sides turned out to be a place of war as the India -A and Sri Lanka-A players, including Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, were engaged in a heated spat after the end of the fourth game of the series, where the Sri Lanka side won the super over. 

The Super Over was not decided to take place due to the bad light. But the Indian captain, Tilak Varma, kept having a go at the umpires, to which the Sri Lanka players stepped up and decided to feature in the super over. They took it as a mental challenge rather than just a game.

Just after the final delivery of the super over, which was a yorker against Vaibhav Sooryavanshi as the left-handed batter missed it and the Sri Lanka -A players started their wild celebrations, a few words were exchanged against the 15-year-old from Bihar.

It was all beginning to unravel as Sooryavanshi was upset with something, and there was some angry-words being told between him and one of the fielders. Suryansh Shedge dragged the youngster out of the circle.

Bu Vaibhav still had a few more words to say. There is no information of what exactly happened, but the two teams shook hands warmly and that was the end of the contest, which at one point of time seemed to be a normal clash.

Umpires step in as tensions boil over — The moment that stopped play in SL-A vs IND-A

The umpires were not prepared to play the super over due to the bad-light. But it was India’s captain, Tilak Varma, who insisted the officials to be part of the super over as the Sri Lanka A side accepted the invitation at the end. 

The first ball was a double with the pacer, Arshad Khan holding his nerve for five runs off the first three balls. But the fourth delivery was smashed as the two Sri Lanka batters came back for three. The fifth delivery was nailed straight down the ground for a six as the Sri Lanka A side ended with 17 runs off the six balls.

India sent Shedge and Sooryavanshi for the contest. Kugathas Mathulan bowled a superb super over and earned the victory. He leaked just only one boundary in the six ball and got the win in their favor.
