The Group A match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, India Women vs Australia Women, is set at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Must-win game for India Women

It is the must-win game for India Women to stay in contention for the semi-final qualification battle from Group A. A defeat will force them to check the New Zealand Women vs Pakistan Women match result, where New Zealand must suffer a defeat by a good margin. The qualification scenario will be still much more complicated for India Women.

Meanwhile, a good margin win will put India Women in a good chance to qualify for the semi-finals. Even in this case, New Zealand Women’s defeat against Pakistan Women will help India Women much. However, India Women can still miss the knockout stage if New Zealand Women thrash Pakistan Women by a big margin.

Due to a net run rate of +2.786, Australia Women are in the safer position by winning all three matches of the group. The Group A points table leader will easily qualify for the semifinals even after losing against India.

Toss Report

In the absence of injured Alyssa Healy, Tahila McGrath is leading Australia Women in this match.

Stand-in Australian captain Tahila McGrath won the toss and chose to bat first.

India vs Australia: Who said what at the toss?

Tahila McGrath: We are gonna bat first, put up a score on the board and take it from there. This is our third game here, looks like a slightly better surface than the previous ones. No concern about injuries right now with all the focus on the game. We have two changes - Grace Harris and Darcie Brown are in.

Harmanpreet Kaur: It's absolutely fine, we have to bowl them out for a low total and chase it down. It's our first game here, we have watched many games on TV and we have our plans. We have beaten them in the past too and we can again do that. One change for us - Pooja (Vastrakar) comes in for Sajana.

Late Change for India

India Women made a late change in the playing XI as Radha Yadav replaced Asha Sobhana. It required approval from Australia, and they had no problem with that replacement.

Complete Squads

Australia Women squad: Beth Mooney (wk), Grace Harris, Ellyse Perry, Ashleigh Gardner, Phoebe Litchfield, Tahlia McGrath (C), Georgia Wareham, Annabel Sutherland, Sophie Molineux, Megan Schutt, Darcie Brown

India Women squad: Shafali Verma, Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur (C), Jemimah Rodrigues, Richa Ghosh (w), Deepti Sharma, Pooja Vastrakar, Arundhati Reddy, Shreyanka Patil, Radha Yadav, Renuka Thakur Singh
