Watch: Yashasvi Jaiswal smashes Mitchell Starc for first-ball six in RR vs DC IPL 2026 clash
The Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener, Yashasvi Jaiswal, has smashed the DC pacer, Mitchell Starc, for the first-ball six during the RR vs DC encounter of the IPL 2026.

Both the Rajasthan Royals and the Delhi Capitals started with lots of promise in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 campaign, but they experienced different fates in the middle of the competition. Even though the inaugural champions of the event picked up pace to go up in the points table, the Capitals struggled to find form.
At the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, when both these sides met, the RR captain, Riyan Parag, won the toss and decided to bat first on a surface which he reckoned had a few dry patches at one side of the surface and could get slow towards the second innings.
Yashasvi Jaiswal welcomes Mitchell Starc with first-ball six
It was the very first IPL 2026 clash for Mitchell Starc, who arrived quite late in India after recovering from the injury. He was previously part of the Ashes 2025/26 and featured in the Big Bash League (BBL) 2025/26, but he didn’t have any action in the middle for the last 12 weeks.
Yashasvi Jaiswal welcomed the left-arm pacer in the game with a massive six over the square leg region. It was a short delivery at the body of the left-handed batter, who hung back and picked it to swing his willow across the line over the backward square leg for a massive six.

On the second ball, it was a length delivery outside the off stump as the Mumbai-born tapped it into the off side. But he had an unfortunate dismissal on the third ball for six runs. It was a full toss on the middle stumps as the batter was surprised by the delivery and looked to swing it across the line.
The ball ballooned up off the top half of the bat as the pacer settled under it comfortably and completed the easy catch.
RR lose both openers cheaply after batting first
Jaiswal became the fifth batter to start a game with a huge six and the first one after Priyansh Arya, who got the same feat against the Chennai Super Kings in Mullanpur in 2025. However, all eyes were also on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who drilled Kyle Jamieson straight down the ground for a boundary.

But the Kiwi pacer had the last laugh as he foxed the Bihar-born with a slower delivery. The batter swung his willow but was bundled out for four runs off two deliveries. RR found themselves 21/2 in three overs.
Brief Scores (at the time of writing): RR 53/2 (R Parag 25*, M Starc 1/16) vs DC
