Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has already registered his name in the record book during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 and is set for more such feats ahead of the contest between the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. The wonder-kid has been fantastic with the bat inside the power play.

For the Royals, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has provided some fearless knocks inside the power play against some of the classical and premier bowlers. He dashed Josh Hazlewood, Jasprit Bumrah, Sunil Narine, and Arshdeep Singh for first-ball and second-ball over boundaries.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi etches his name into record book

The left-handed opening batter has already reached 400 runs in just 167 balls to be the fastest to reach the landmark, with the previous being 188 balls held by Kolkata Knight Riders’ Andre Russell. During his 37-ball 103-run knock against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, he became the youngest player to reach 1000 runs in men’s T20s.

Sooryavanshi became the fastest by deliveries faced, achieving it in 473 balls, eclipsing Mitchell Owen’s 533-ball record. He has smacked 12 sixes against the Sunrisers on April 25, 2026, breaking the previous Indian record of 11 shared by himself and Murali Vijay of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

His 36-ball century against Hyderabad is the fastest of the 2026 edition and the third-fastest in IPL history. The Bihar-born is the youngest player ever to celebrate two centuries in the IPL, both of which came in under only 40 deliveries.

Now, all of his eyes will be on his potential 100th six, which could come in RR’s clash against the Delhi Capitals in Jaipur. As a teenager, he has 99 sixes in 27 innings of the T20s for his 1101 runs, while Afghanistan's Rahmanullah Gurbaz stands in the second position with 90 sixes in 52 innings for his 1271 runs.

Sooryavanshi eyes to overtake Abhishek Sharma

Sooryavanshi also closes on another significant record as he could overtake the tally of the southpaw opener, Abhishek Sharma, for the most sixes by an Indian player in a single season of the IPL. Abhishek has currently held the record with 42 sixes in the IPL 2024.

In 2026, he scored 400 runs in nine encounters at an average of 44.44 and a stunning strike rate of 238.09, with the help of one century and two half-centuries, with the best score of 103. He has struck 34 boundaries and 37 over boundaries and needs just six sixes to break the Hyderabad opener’s record.
