A stunning bowling display from Ravindra Jadeja followed by a masterclass batting display from the duo of Virat Kohli and KL Rahul helped India defeat Australia by a margin of 6 wickets in match number 5 of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023.

Speaking about the game, Australia won the toss and opted to bat first in a dry Chennai Surface. They lost Mitchell Marsh first up as Bumrah drew the first blood for India. David Warner and Steven Smith kept the scoreboard ticking as they forged a 69-run stand for the second wicket before Kuldeep Yadav provided a breakthrough by picking Warner caught and bowled. From thereon, Indian bowlers were right on the money as they picked up wickets at regular intervals. Ravindra Jadeja picked up three wickets in the middle, first, he cleaned up Smith with a peach then nicked Labuschagne to the keeper and trapped Alec Carey in front for a duck while Kuldeep knocked over dangerous Glenn Maxwell. Handy contributions from lower down the order helped Australia post 199 in 50 overs. For India, Jadeja was the pick of bowlers for his spell of 3/28 in 10 overs while Bumrah and Kuldeep picked two wickets each.
