The Hundred 2026 has begun on July 21 as the eight-franchises- MI London, Sunrisers Leeds, Southern Brave, Welsh Fire, London Spirit, Manchester Super Giants, Birmingham Phoenix, and Trent Rockets- came up against each other for the title glory. MI London, who were named as Oval Invincibles, start the 2026 season as the defending champions of the competition. 

The eight venues- Kennington Oval in South London, the Rose Bowl in Southampton, Lord’s in London, Edgbaston in Birmingham, Headingley in Leeds, Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester, Trent Bridge in Nottingham, and Sophia Gardens in Cardiff will host the event.

Irrespective of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the table-topper from the league stage of the event will qualify straight into the final of The Hundred 2026, while the second- and third-ranked sides will face each other for the Eliminator to meet the finalist.

In the opening clash betwen MI London and the Leeds, Mitchell Marsh smashed 41 runs off 27 balls with three boundaries and as many sixes, while Tom Aslop clubbed 31 runs off 18 balls. For the home side, Sam Curran smashed unbeaten 60 runs in 39 balls while Nicholas Pooran nailed an undefeated knock of 58 runs in 22 balls at a strike rate of 263.64, shouldering five boundaries and five sixes.

Richard Gleeson, for the MI London side, picked up four wickets in the opening clash off 19 balls at a run-per-ball 1.32. Trent Boult bowled well for his figures of 1/17 in 20 balls. Nathan Ellis ended with figures of 1/22 in 20 balls while Brydon Carse rreturned with figures of 2/18 in 20 balls.

Latest standings, NRR calculations & what each team needs to reach the Playoffs

In the very first game of The Hundred 2026, Sunrisers Leeds were bundled out for 143 in 99 balls with Tom Aslop smashing 31 runs in 18 balls with the help of three sixes at a strike rate of 172.22. MI London, in reply, completed the chase with 16 balls to spare by seven wickets. That was built on unbeaten 93-run fourth-wicket partnership.

The Oval Invincibles, currently known as MI London, have won the most trophies in The Men’s Hundred competition, securing three consecutive titles in 2023, 2024, and 2025.

Phil Salt is the leading run-getter of The Men’s Hundred competition. He has smashed 1138 runs in 43 innings at an average of 27.09 and a strike rate of 152.95, with the help of seven half-centuries at the best score of 86 runs.

Tymal Mills is the leading wicket-taker of The Men’s Hundred competition, having picked up 51 wickets in 35 innings at an average of 17.60 and an economy rate of 8.20 with two four-wicket hauls.

The final of the Men’s Hundred 2026 will take place in August. The venue, however, hasn’t been decided yet.
