#10 AB de Villiers (Royal Challengers Bengaluru & Delhi Daredevils)-

The former wicket-keeper batter of South Africa, AB de Villiers, has featured for the Delhi Daredevils and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL, being the tenth leading run-getter of the competition, ahead of the 2027 season. He is one of the most innovative batters of the competition, with his 360-degree batting skills and over 5100 runs at a strike rate of more than 150. 

De Villiers is the second-leading run-getter of the RCB side in the IPL, with overall 5162 runs in 170 innings at a strike rate of 151.68 with 40 fifties and three centuries at the best score of 133* against the Mumbai Indians. However, he didn’t win a single title in his IPL career.

#9 Chris Gayle (Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Punjab Kings)-

The left-handed batter of the West Indies side, Chris Gayle, is the 11th leading run-getter of the IPL, having featured for the RCB side for most of his career along with a few seasons with the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Punjab Kings (PBKS). He holds the record for the highest individual IPL score of 175* against the Pune Warriors India (PWI). 

Gayle, the third leading run-getter of the RCB side in the IPL, has collected overall 4965 runs in 141 innings of the tournament at an average of just under 40 and a strike rate of 148.96, shouldering six centuries and 31 fifties at the best score of 175*.

#8 Jasprit Bumrah (Mumbai Indians)-

Jasprit Bumrah is one of the premier pacers of India across formats and a reason for Mumbai Indians’ success in the IPL. Before the 2027 edition of the competition, he has collected 187 wickets in 158 innings at an average of 23.74 and a strike rate of under 20 and an economy rate of 7.33, with the help of three four-wicket hauls and a couple of five-wicket hauls.

Bumrah’s best season of the IPL came in 2020/21, when he collected 27 wickets in 15 innings at an average of below 15 and a strike rate of 13.30 along with an economy rate of 6.73. The recently finished edition of the league was his worst when he collected four wickets in 13 innings at an average of 102.50 and an economy rate of 8.36.

#7 Lasith Malinga (Mumbai Indians)-

The former pacer of the Sri Lankan side, Lasith Malinga, is one of the greatest fast bowlers in IPL history. He has been the master of yorkers and death bowling under pressure, having delivered countless match-winning spells, including the final over of the IPL 2019 final against CSK in Hyderabad.

Malinga, who is currently the bowling coach of the five-time champions, has picked up 170 wickets in 122 innings at an average of below 20 and a strike rate of 16.62, along with an economy rate of 7.14. He also gave vital lessons to Bumrah for his incredible growth in the game.

#6 Suresh Raina (Chennai Super Kings & Gujarat Lions)-

Being called ‘Mr. IPL’, Suresh Raina remains one of the most consistent players of the IPL for the Chennai Super Kings, for their four titles of the league till 2021. Apart from the 2021 season, which was his last and when he managed only 160 runs, Raina has crossed the 350-run mark in every single edition of the event between 2008 and 2019, out of which nine editions saw him getting over 400 runs.

Raina, heading into the IPL 2027, is the sixth leading run-getter of the tournament with 5528 runs in 200 innings at an average of 32.51 and a strike rate of 136.73, having celebrated 39 fifties and one century at the best score of 100*.

#5 Ravindra Jadeja (Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Lions, and Rajasthan Royals)-

Ravindra Jadeja is the greatest all-rounder in IPL history, with his multiple titles for the Chennai Super Kings. The left-arm spinner is one of the explosive finishers of the game, along with being the best fielder of the competition, as he has consistently influenced the game in all three departments for more than a decade.

The all-rounder has overall smashed 3526 runs in 209 innings of the tournament at an average of 29.14 and a strike rate of 130.64 with the help of five half-centuries. His six and four to win the IPL 2023 on the last two balls remains one of the most memorable moments of the CSK side. Besides that, he picked up 180 wickets at an economy rate of 7.70.

#4 Sunil Narine (Kolkata Knight Riders)-

West Indies’ one of the greats, Sunil Narine, has played for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL and has won three titles with the franchise, having taken a massive number of wickets with his mystery spin that no one has been able to read. The spinner’s economy rate of 6.78 in 200 innings has been jaw-dropping. 

The 38-year-old has collected 207 wickets in 200 innings of the event at an average of 25.41. His best season of the competition came in his very first edition in 2012 when he collected 24 wickets in 15 innings at an economy rate of 5.47. Narine has never crossed the economy rate of 8 in one season, while he had less than seven in seven editions.

#3 Rohit Sharma (Mumbai Indians & Deccan Chargers)-

Rohit Sharma is the joint most successful captain of the IPL, having won five titles as the leader for the Mumbai Indians (MI). After he moved to the Mumbai franchise, he reshaped the franchise; the fate changed so much as he led the side to five titles in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020. 

Rohit is overall the second leading run-getter of the IPL. The right-handed batter, who has clubbed 6432 runs for MI to be at the top of the list, has collected overall 7329 runs in 276 innings of the league at an average of 29.91 and a strike rate of 132.91 with two centuries and 49 fifties at the best score of 109*.

#2 Virat Kohli (Royal Challengers Bengaluru)-

Virat Kohli didn’t start well in his IPL career but later picked up pace when he experienced a breakthrough season with the bat in 2016. The right-handed batter, having played for the RCB side for the entire IPL, is the leading run-getter of the event with 9336 runs in 275 innings at an average of 40.41 and a strike rate of 134.79 with nine centuries and 68 fifties.

Kohli’s best season of the event came in 2016 when he smashed 973 runs in 16 innings at 81.08 and a strike rate of 152.03 with seven fifties and four centuries. He has crossed the 400-run mark on 12 occasions in the event.

#1 MS Dhoni (Chennai Super Kings and Rising Pune Supergiants)-

By numbers, MS Dhoni may not come among the top three players of the IPL. But the former Indian wicket-keeper batter has been a superb finisher of the event, along with winning five titles as the captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and has shown incredible consistency across the tournament’s history.

Dhoni has overall smacked 5439 runs in 242 innings of the 20-over league at an average of 38.30 and a strike rate of 137.45, having secured 24 half-centuries at the best score of unbeaten 84 runs. Under him, CSK reached the playoffs in all the editions till 2019.
