Steve Waugh, one of the most influential and successful captains in the history of Australian cricket, in the 5th spot of the list shows how competitive the list is going to be. In this number of matches, he scored 3171 runs at a batting average of 58.71, powered by the highest score of 177 not out. Ashes 1989 is considered as one of his best, as he registered two unbeaten centuries at Headingley (177*) and Lord's (152*).
