It was at the start of 2025 when a 14-year-old Indian batter, Ira Jadhav, created history in Indian women’s cricket to record a triple century in a limited-overs cricket encounter. During the Women’s U-19 One-day Trophy 2024-25, Mumbai scored a historic total of 563 runs for the loss of three wickets in their allotted 50 overs.

The teenager had a major role in that total, with the right-handed batter notching up a fine unbeaten knock of 346 runs off just 157 deliveries, thanks to 42 boundaries and 16 sixes. It was the first triple century by an Indian woman in limited-overs cricket and also the highest individual score in the history of the competition.

It was not a great start to the year 2025 for the batter, who went unsold in the auction of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025. But she didn’t let that put pressure on her and smashed a fine triple century during the game against Meghalaya at the Alur Cricket Stadium in Bengaluru.

The Mumbai batter was part of the auction for a base price of INR 10 lakh but went unsold at the end. A year later, her dream was fulfilled of rubbing shoulders with some of the greats of the game during the Mumbai T20 League auction 2026 for the same INR 10 lakh amount.

It had been the highest amount being fetched in the auction as Aakash Tigers showed interest and belief in the skill of the youngster. She will have the chance to impress her idol, Jemimah Rodrigues, with several superb performances with the bat.

It was her second game of the event after she celebrated a dashing knock of 88 runs in 102 balls with 10 boundaries and a pair of sixes.

At the start of her career, she participated in the National Cricket Academy camp along with other players, as her father was excited of her daughter.

“It’s a national-level camp which is organized for special players who have performed well in the domestic season. All players (Boys and Girls) who have participated in their respective age groups get an opportunity to participate in advanced training for cricket skills and games for a month.” Sachin Jadhav expressed.

Ira will now hope to continue to show her passion on the pitch at the biggest stage and use the same skills with the bat against some of the quality bowlers.
