In the history of Indian cricket, two notable players- Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni have had their biopics in the film industry. And a third member is going to get his share next year, as actor Rajkumar Rao is all set to play the character of the former Indian captain in his upcoming biopic. 

Rajkumar’sDada: The Sourav Ganguly Storyis going to reflect a lot on the former left-handed opening batter’s life. The actor shared the first picture from the set on social media, noting that the shooting for the film has officially begun.

Away from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, Another video has gone viral where the actor has been seen wearing a white shirt under the helmet and pads. The first slide featured a clapboard with the film’s title, while the second displayed a picture of theSourav Ganguly standat the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

While sharing the Instagram post, Rajkumar has written on the film,And it begins... The only #DADA (sic)besides giving a special interview to NDTV and reckoned,Now that Dada has already said it, let me also make it official – yes, I am playing him in his biopic.

The actor has admitted how anxious he has been from the start while playing the iconic cricketer, but he is equally excited about the opportunity and expects ‘a lot of funin the next few days.

During the media interaction in Bardhaman last year, Ganguly also reflected on the film shooting,From what I've heard, Rajkumar Rao will play the role (the titular role), but there are issues of dates, so it will take more than a year to hit the screens.

Sourav Ganguly’s impressive international career

Ganguly is currently the fourth leading run-getter of the Indian side in the ODIs. The southpaw has smashed 11221 runs in 297 innings at an average of 40.95 and a strike rate of 73.65 with the help of 22 centuries and 71 half-centuries at the best score of 183 runs.

As a leader, the Kolkata-born has the fourth-most victories (97) across formats at a win-loss ratio of 1.24, besides shouldering them to the final of the ODI World Cup 2003 against Australia
