The IPL 2026 match 44 will be played between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) on May 2 at the Chepauk Stadium, Chennai. The two sides lost their previous fixtures, but this time, they want to bounce back in this match, which holds great significance because both teams are chasing the playoffs.

CSK struggled in their last game against Gujarat Titans. Batting first, they got off to a poor start lost their early wickets and were at 37/4. However, Ruturaj Gaikwad played a responsible knock of 74 runs and helped the team reach 158/7. Despite that effort, GT chased the target comfortably in 16.4 overs. CSK currently at sixth place with six points from eight matches.


Mumbai Indians are in even worse form this season. They lost their previous match to Sunrisers Hyderabad despite scoring a huge total of 243 runs. MI’s bowlers failed badly as SRH chased it down in just 18.4 overs. Ryan Rickelton was the standout performer with an unbeaten 123. MI are at ninth place with only four points from nine matches and needs a strong comeback.

The pitch at Chepauk is expected to be balanced. Batters can score runs easily at the start as the ball comes nicely onto the bat. The average first innings score here is around 170. As the game progresses, spinners and slower bowlers can get help from the pitch. In recent times, the wicket is also showing a little more bounce. The teams chasing have done well here this season, so toss could be very important. So, fans can expect a competitive and possibly high-scoring contest.
